Jooseje Cornelisdr. Gans was born on 1 January 1567 to Cornelis Gans. The "middle name" abbreviated as Cornelisdr. signified Cornelisdochter, meaning Cornelis's daughter. Jooseje married the notable Dutch artist Hendrick Corrneliszoon Vroom in 1590 in Haarlem, Netherlands. She and Hendrick were the parents of one daughter and three sons : Cornelia Hendrisksdr.
