Hi R,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up gedcom biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Hi Ron

Thank you for adding your DNA Test to your profile on WikiTree. Getting Started with DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

DNA at WikiTree provides a visual way for you to find others who have tested and have the potential of having common ancestors. It normally takes 24 hours from adding a test, or adding a new ancestor, or ancestor’s descendant, for WikiTree to display your name and test results on your ancestors and their descendants’ profiles for potential cousins to compare results with.

Have fun!

Hi Ron!

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Sources are very important here on Wikitree, especially on Pre-1700 profiles. It is how we show where we got the info and help others find it too. Find out more about sources here and more detailed info here.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. If you have any questions, click reply below this message and I will get back to you.

Hi

You may want to use your own surname in the Last Name at Birth field. This will ensure that your profile is listed on the correct surname page with other members and ancestors who also have that surname. Our naming conventions can be found at [Name Fields Name Fields] If you are concerned about Privacy, click the Privacy tab on your profile or visit our Privacy help page to read about how the different settings work.

You are now confirmed! :) I hope you enjoy this site as much as I do, as it is a lot of fun and there are tons of great people collaborating.
Ron, have fun growing your tree.

First, make sure you check out our New Member How-To pages. They will save you time learning our system: New Member How-To pages. As a recommendation, you may want to edit your tags to show the the region where you are researching surnames. The clickable tags we follow and the comments we make about them at WikiTree help us collaborate with other members. Your Wiki Genealogy Feed will show the activity connected to the surnames and places relating to your tags. This link may help you Tags.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'm here to help!
