John was born in 1802. He married Susannah Adams. Between 1850 and 1880, they are enumerated on the federal census in Blair County, Pennsylvania. [1][2][3][4] John died 1887. [5]

Tradition
John Garber is said to have been one of four brothers who came over from Holland or Switzerland in the early 1800's. The source of this tradition is unknown. He settled in Morrison's Cove in Blair and Bedford counties of Pennsylvania, around Ore Hill and Roaring Spring and Scratchtown. They were of the Dunkard or Mennonite faith. John Garber was a farmer and a basket weaver (maker).
