Biography

OBITUARY: Johnny ‘Boo-BOO’ Angel Garcia, 25, an angel on earth, received a call from God to come back Home on July 9th at 5:47 P.M. ‘Jay Jay’ was born July 30, 1994 in California’s East Side part of San Jose and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of one as the youngest of three brothers (and the runt of the pack but you wouldn’t know it.) Johnny touched the lives of those he crossed paths with. Basketball and his sense of humor would forever be a catalyst for all the strong connections Johnny made all throughout his life.

His life was dedicated to love, loyalty, and living in the fast lane. “ You play the way the look,” is one of many things Basketball Coach Roberto Mendez of the La Mesa Elementary Wildcat’s instilled in his teams and something Johnny took with him for years to come. A man with big dreams and simple pleasures “Jay Jay” was wise well beyond his years.

Answering to no one and living life on his terms was Johnny’s way of being, a true “Greaser” at heart who dreamt of having his own barber shop one day despite obstacles in his path. ”Are you riding or are you hiding,” and “dirty side down,” was one of many things Johnny said while riding his motorcycle with longtime friends and family. A fanatic of good food, fried chicken and his mom’s enchiladas especially, he loved eating, and you know it was good when his face lit up infectiously smiling at you from ear to ear.

A big brother, a Tio, Johnny touched the lives of everyone that came close enough to hear him speak. Loyal to the fullest meaning of the word, ‘Jay Jay’ was known to move mountains and be there for you on the drop of a dime like a super hero. Big hearted, goofy and bad to the bone, truly something you’d only see in a movie, Johnny was divine and one of a kind. Johnny was preceded in death by grandparents, Raymond Baca & Rosemary Torres, and sister Alicia Baca. He is survived by his mother, Rene Louise Baca; dad, Alray Baca; father, Pedro Garcia; siblings: Eric J. Lopez Jr & Briana ‘Bang Bang’ Martinez, George ‘Georgie’ Ratiu & Ruby Garcia, Maleaha Garcia, Bentura ‘Benny’ Garcia, Kaleb Marker, and Kieshia Garcia; teams, The La Mesa Wildcats Basketball Team 05-06, The Mesa Verde Ballerz Summer 06, The Mesa Verde Warriors 08; Brother’s: Bobby ‘Schmurda’ Montoya, Hugo ‘Juice’ Solis, Edgar ‘Mudo’ Gayton, and Markiez “Spiff” Frazier; and many more loved ones and friends. Pallbearers: Eric J. Lopez Jr, Bobby Montoya, Herbert Edman, Alray Baca, George Ratiu, and Sky Shainwald.

Nothing Gold Can Stay By Robert Frost Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay.
