I don't know much about my family tree yet.
I'm researching my paternal line. My dad was born in Lora del Rio, Seville Spain. His parents, grandparents and great-grandparents are from Fuente de Cantos, Badajoz, Spain and I have an extensive family tree. He and his sister were orphaned during the Civil War of Spain. Then, both adopted together. His birth surname was Sanchez Iglesias. Once adopted, government of Spain mandated his surname to become hyphened, becoming Garcia-Corrales y Sanchez Iglesias. This was done purposefully because one parent could be proven to have died during the war but the other not. Hence, allowing any parent to come forward later.

Jose Sanchez Iglesias was born on May 9, 1931 in Lora del Rio, Seville Spain. His biological father was Aurelio Sanchez Acuña born in Fuente de Cantos, Badajoz, Spain. His biological mother was Josefa Antonia Iglesias Laina born in Fuente de Cantos, Badajoz, Spain. When his mother Josefa was killed during the Civil War of Spain in 1936, two children were taken to an orphange San Luis de Sevilla in May of 1937. They were adopted together by America Garcia-Corrales of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Hence, my dad's name was changed. Now, hyphened and legally becoming Jose Garcia-Corrales y Sanchez Iglesias. In essence, government of Spain mandated that his name stay as such because his mother's death could be proven but not father. This allowed family members in the future to locate these children. Last, in 2009, we found biological first cousins, on paternal and maternal side. And DNA was conducted. Today, I hope to find my dad's other siblings whom disappeared.

Initially, I created the profile page under my dad's birth name, Jose Sanchez Iglesias. Wanting to locate his family members. Shortly after, I realized adding any additional information would be be permitted because he is deceased. Advice received, change my profile but not reflecting.
Should read as follows:
The profile name should be: Maria del Pilar Garcia-Corrales (exact at birth) Dad's birth name: Jose Sanchez Iglesias (exact at birth) Dad's name once adopted: Jose Garcia-Corrales y Sanchez Iglesias (legal change). Note: This was mandated by government of Spain because his mother's death could be proven, killed during Civil War of Spain in 1936 in Lora del Rio, Seville Spain.

Your Dad's name should be the name that was on his birth certificate. Then you can put his adopted name in "other last names" or address the change in his biography. I hope this helps and if you need more help, please let me know.
