Note: Jane at age 6 months crept to open fireplace and pulled a kettle of boiling
water on herself. First burial in Gard Cemetery, Palmer Township, Washington
County, Ohio. Now (1960) there are five(5) generations buried in the Gard
Cemetery.

(527) SOPHIA GARD (107)(14)(2)(1): b: 15 Mar 1817, Washington County, OH
d: 14 Sep 1817. Her death resulting from burns she received when crawling too
close to the open fireplace after a peach that had rolled from her hands. This
was a great sorrow to Mary and David, and Jane was the first to be buried in
the Gard Cemetery in Palmer Township, Washington County, OHIO. (R80).
