Sarah Gardiner was born in about 1744 ^[1].

James Churchill and Sarah Gardiner were married at Wytham on 13 October 1765. ^[2].

Their first two children were baptised at Wytham in Berkshire:

• Elizabeth Churchill - born 1766
• Charles Churchill - born 1769

There is then a gap in the sequence of children ^[3].

Then four more children were baptised at Wytham:

• Jane Churchill - born 1781
• George Churchill - born 1784
• Charlotte Churchill - born 1787
• Samuel Churchill - born 1789

In 1841, Sarah was living at Wytham with her son Samuel. Her age is given as 97, implying a birth date in 1743 or 1744. She is said to be of independent means. Her birthplace is indicated as not in Berkshire. ^[1].

She died in 1841.
