He was 56 years of age, and leaves a widow, two daughters (Mrs. Geary and Mrs. Smith, Tumbarumba), and five sons (Messrs, Joseph, William, Thomas, Alfred and Arthur Gardner, all of Tumbarumba). One daughter (Mrs. S. Bennett) predeceased him. Five brothers survive — Messrs Thomas, (Gundagai), Joseph, Jim, John and Harry, and also three sisters — Mrs. O. J. Hawker (Jugiong), Mrs. Clarke (Lakemba) and Mrs. Hasler (Murrumburrah).[1]

Mr Gardner settled in the Tumbarumba district about seven years ago, having formerly resided for 30 years at Gundagai. He as survived by a widow and five sons and two daughters. The interment took place on Sunday afternoon in the Church of England portion of the Tumbarumba Cemetery.
