married Richard Thompson. They had one son, William, and lived on the family farm.

William Gardner (1805 Wroxton-) the eldest son, appears to has taken over his father's farm by 1851.
Richard Gardner (1807 Wroxton - 1878) emigrated to Michigan. He was successful and raised a large family. Knowledge of his parentage comes from being James Gardner's brother.

Sarah married John Belcher. They lived in Thenford, Northamptonshire. Confirmation that she is of this family comes from the 1881 census for Thenford, when her sister Elizabeth Thompson, is living with her.[7]

Research Note on Other Children There are probably other children born between 1807 and 1813. The familysearch records for Balscott with Wroxton begin in 1813. By the 1841 census they would be 'out of the nest'. Possible son:

Probable Parents of John Gardner John Gardner christened 13 February 1776, son of William and Kitty Ann Gardner, Adderbury, Oxfordshire. Adderbury is near Bloxham and less than 5 miles from Wroxton. William and Kitty Ann had 7 children between 1771 and 1782. [12]
This suggests a 1770 marriage. Searching through the film of Addurbury Parish records: William Gardner married Kitty Ann Bollon 31 Oct 1770 by license.[13]
