Robert Thomas Gardner was born at Woolsthorpe 1880, mother Isabella RICHARDSON, father Andrew Dunn.[1]
Robert Thomas Gardner, bushman at Woolsthorpe, joined the 4th Victorian Imperial Bushmen/Australian Imperial Regiment (A.I.R.) (regimental number 541) and sailed from Port Melbourne on the "Victorian" on 1 May 1900 for South Africa.[2][3]
He married Jessie Matilda Wilkinson in 1905 in Victoria.[4] Their children were:[citation needed]
In July 1917 Robert joined the AIF and was allocated to the 6th Australian Infantry Battalion. He served in France before returning to Australia in September 1918.[5][6]
Robert died at Tawonga 1952 age 72.[7]
