Notes

Surname under investigation, see Grandfather's profile

Records show both Gardner and Garnet as surnames. This starts with Benjamins grandfather John. Was it recorded wrong or did they change the name?

All of my ancestors that descended from Benjamin used the surname Gardner. So I prefer to keep the surname Gardner until the "story" is revealed.

Hello. I am descended from the Gardner/Garnet line on my mother's side. May I ask what source have you found for the death date of 1760? I've seen a secondary source saying that he and his wife Joanna sold land in Hingham as late as 1772. (The source is "Warren, Richard Vol 18, part 2 pg 168" which I think is from the GSMD Silver Books collection".

Gardner-3178 and Garnet-74 are not ready to be merged because: There are a LOT of Gardiner/Garnet duplicate profiles because of records from the 1600's showing both spellings. My ancestors have always been Gardner so I do not want to merge into a Garnet profile at this generation if it turns out to be verified. Benjamin's grandfather John seems to be start of the Gardner/Garnet confusion. See Gardner-3181 for my current investigations... Thanks Darin
