When Matilda Irene "Mattie" Gardner was born on 22 November 1913, in Jasper, Walker, Alabama, United States, her father, William Monroe Gardner, was 32 and her mother, Inez Kingsley, was 29. She married John Loyd "Jake" Stockton on 22 March 1930, in Cotton, Oklahoma, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. She lived in Justice Precinct 2, Wise, Texas, United States for about 5 years. Matilda married George Edward Beck Sr in 1942 at Wichita Falls, Wichita, Texas and they had 1 daughter & 1 son. She died on 22 November 1995, in Chillicothe, Hardeman, Texas, United States, at the age of 82.

She was the daughter of William Gardner and Inez Kingsley.
