Dale Allan Gardner (November 8, 1948 – February 19, 2014) was a NASA astronaut who flew two Space Shuttle missions during the early 1980s.

1948 Born in Fairmont, Martin, Minnesota, USA.
1970 Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Entered into active duty with the United States Navy.
1978 Selected by NASA in Astronaut Group 8. [2]
1983 Flew on Challenger STS-8 with Richard Truly, Guion Bluford, William E. Thornton and Daniel Brandenstein. Awarded the NASA Space Flight Medal, his first of 2. [3]
