Biography

William was born in 1822. He was the son of Edward Gardner and Catherine Hormell. William was likely born in Pennsylvania, the location indicated on the marriage record of son, Ezra. There is also the possibility of his birth being in Ohio, as recorded for younger brother, Jackson. The majority of census records list William born in Kentucky, which is least likely. William married Elizabeth Kendall and they resided in Gardnersville, Pendleton County, Kentucky throughout the remainder of his life. He passed away in 1872.
