Enid Grace Gardner was born in Colchester, England in 1918. She was the daughter of William Gardner and Audrey Whittall.

Enid was a commercial artist and she married John Scarborough Dudding in 1945 and they had 2 children. Her husband was knighted in 1963. He passed away in 1986 and she passed away in 2002.
