My biography should be entered when there is no further risk of identity theft.

Note that the Prendergast/Killoran and Gariepy/Geiger ancestors were originally all Roman Catholic. That started to change with the post-WW II generation, some of whom abandoned all church connections, and some may have acquired Protestant church connections.

In the case of Prendergast/Pendergasts of this family who moved to the U.S. in the 19th century, marriage to a Protestant wife also changed the family church adherence of those descendants. (See James Prendergast/Pendergast and Thomas Deligney Prendergast, both born in Prince Edward Island.)

Researchers may expect that the Anderson line of descendants, like their Protestant ancestors, will have had Presbyterian, Methodist or United Church of Canada declarations in censuses and other official records.

Hi Joanna

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

The Germany, Ireland, and United States Projects may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Have questions? Let me know by using the "reply" link under my comments or by clicking my name to visit my profile. From there you can leave a comment or send a private message.

Hi Joanna,

I found a photo and some info for Jewitt-203. I think his first name is Oliver judging from his UofT bio. Laurie

posted by Laurie Cruthers

Olver was the mother's maiden name, and it was misspelled as Oliver quite frequently. I will see if I have a scanned portrait with the name written on it; there is certainly a physical photo in the family album. I will also add a note to the bio. Olver Jewitt's first name is OLVER, not Oliver. All the places it is spelled Oliver are the errors based on the assumption that there is an i missing in the name.

Aha. Well, that makes sense. Thanks for putting the note on the bio.

Hi Joanna,

It's good to see you active at WikiTree again. You might be interested in some of the tips and tricks that we have included in the How-Tos that we share with new members these days. They were created long after you became a member so you never received them.

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention those profiles need.

If you have WikiTree questions, I am here to help.

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.

Hi Joanna, I've done a little work on Neil O'Hanley's profile. His parents' profiles are now attached to his with the correct spelling. They're orphaned, so you may want to adopt them. Cheers, Laurie

Hi! I would recommend Evidence Explained as a great place to look on how to source certain items you may use. Hope this helps! :)

You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members.

As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.

Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.

Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can also meet some of our members by joining in the fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum: Have you discovered any real characters in your branches?

Hello Joanna,

Welcome to the WikiTree family!

WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team! I hope you'll love it as much as I do!

The email we just sent has helpful links to get you started. When you confirm your email address, you’ll be given an opportunity to volunteer to help document our collective family history.

Use the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests.

When you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership. Then you'll be able to add your family to the tree!

Charlotte (Georgia, USA)

P.S. I'm happy to answer any questions!
