Biography

Bonaventure Gariepy was a Canadian First Peoples and member of the Métis Nation.

Bonaventure Gariepy was born on 2 March 1825 at Souris River, Manitoba. He was the son of Louis Marie Gariepy and Josephte (Ducharme) Gariepy.^[1]

When Bonaventure was 21 he married Madeleine Larocque on 11 January 1847 in St Francois Xavier, Manitoba.^[2]

The couple had 10 children: Helene Gariepy, Marguerite Gariepy, Marie Alphonsine Gariepy, Euphrosine Gariepy, Louis Gariepy, Rose Gariepy, Alexandre Gariepy, Mathilde Gariepy, Jean Baptiste Gariepy and Flora Gariepy.^[3]

Bonaventure died at the age of 65 on 14 April 1890 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.^[1][3][4][5]

Burial took place at St. François Xavier on 21 Apr 1890.^[6]
