Information on this Margaret Garland is outdated. There's no evidence that she was born in 1765 and the Louisa County, Virginia, death date was according to FamilySearch genealogies was actually her "purported" marriage date
Garland-228 and Garland-535 do not represent the same person because: Although Garland 535 died before Garland 228 married, no more conclusive information is available therefore I will let the information stand as it is. Charles Patterson
Garland-535 and Garland-228 are not ready to be merged because: If Margaret Garland Garland-535 died at the age of 16 in 1691 she couldn't be the Margaret Garland who married William James Overton in 1716. I asked the profile manager to review his information on the one who died at age 16. Her birthdate doesn't work either as Mary Jane only married Edward in 1683, eight years after. If her dates should match the other Margaret, then the merge can go ahead.
Garland-535 and Garland-228 appear to represent the same person because: The Garlands had only one daughter named Margaret. From what I've seen, she was born in 1675 and married William Overton.
