Biography

Nancy was born in 1852. In the 1860 census Nancy (age 7) was with her parents in Nodaway, Andrew, Missouri.^[1]

Nancy (age 17) married Louis M Harness on 23 January 1870 in Doniphan, Kansas, United States.^[2] In the 1870 census Nancy (age 17), Keeping House, was in Iowa, Doniphan, Kansas.^[3] In the 1875 census Nancy (age 22) was in Iowa, Doniphan, Kansas.^[4] In the 1880 census Nancy (age 26), Keeps House, was the wife of Lewis Harness in Iowa Point, Doniphan, Kansas, United States.^[5] Nancy was in her father's will in 1881 in Kansas.^[6] Louis died in 1885. In the 1910 census Nancy (age 57) was the widowed mother of Neri G Harness in Humboldt Ward 2, Richardson, Nebraska, United States.^[7] In the 1920 census Nancy (age 68) was the widowed head of household in Grant, Richardson, Nebraska.^[8]

Nancy died on 16 September 1921 in Dawson, Richardson County, Nebraska.^[9] Her remains were brought from Dawson by "auto hearse." A Dawson minister traveled to conduct the service, attended by her son Eddie and daughter Mrs. Alice Ramsey of Dawson and many close friends and relatives from nearby towns in Kansas.^[10] She was buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Highland, Doniphan County, Kansas, United States.^[11]
