Anthony Sheridan Garoutte, the son of Warren Garoutte and Martha Richmond, was born 26 November 1864 in Billings, Christian County, Missouri. He passed away 20 Feb 1947 in Vinita, Craig County, Oklahoma and is buried in the Grandview Cemetery, Kaw City, Kay County, Oklahoma.[1]
In the 1870 U.S. Federal Census, the family is living in Pond Creek Township, Greene County, Missouri. The household is listed as follows:
Warren Garoutte, a Farmer, age 31 from Ohio,
Martha age 32 from Tennessee,
William age nine from Missouri,
John age seven from Missouri,
Anthony age five from Missouri,
Mary age four from Missouri,
Susan age two from Missouri,
Marcus age seven months from Missouri,
Benton Garoutte, a Farm Hand, age 19 from Missouri, and
William Rickman, Well Drying, age 21 from Missouri.
Note: Living next door to the family is James Garoutte age 23 of Missouri and his wife Charity age 19 of Illinois.[2]
The 1880 U.S. Federal Census, Pond Creek, Greene County, Missouri, lists the family as:
A.S. Garoutte, under the age of twenty-one, and M.P. Richmond over the age of eighteen, were united in marriage 10 July 1885 in Springfield, Greene County, Missouri. Warren W Garoutte, father of the groom, gave his consent to the marriage.[4]
By the 1900 U.S. Federal Census, the family has relocated to Ralston, Pawnee County, Oklahoma Territory. They are listed as:
