My Great-great Aunt Lucinda was the younger sister of Sallie B. Garr, Leonard Brooks first wife. Lucinda was diagnosed with dementia praecox (now known as schizophrenia) in early 1911, and was committed to the Northern State Hospital for the Insane, formerly located in Sedro Woolley, Washington on 25 Jan 1911. She spent the intervening 17 years as a patient before contracting tuberculosis at the hospital and passing away on 16 Feb 1928. My great grandmother Millie Countryman, who was both Lucinda's niece & step-daughter, recalled her as a beautiful and kind woman.
