Malinda married Matthew Gregory Phillips (born in 1763 in North Carolina; son of William Phillips and Mary Margaret (Creed) Phillips). Their children were:

Malinda was born in Surry County, North Carolina in about 1774. Her parents were Blount and Nancy Garrett. Malinda married Matthew Phillips. She and Matthew moved from North Carolina to Bedbord County, Tennessee. Matthew is recorded on the 1820 census for Bedford County.

Malinda was born in 1770. She was the daughter of Blount Garrett and Nancy Blount. She passed away in 1828.
