His family was living in Chambers County in the southern division of the county near Cusseta post office.
War came to the south and to Alabama. His father enlisted in the 37th Alabama Infantry and went off to war. His father returned home after the war.
William and his family were living in Chambers County near what was later known as Lanett. They were living there in 1870 and in 1880. William worked on the farm. His family moved to Gold Hill in Lee County. William married Georgia Watson daughter of George W. Watson and Ann J. Weaver in Lee County in 1893. In 1900 Will and Georgia were living in Ridgegrove Gold Hill village in Lee County. His parents were living near by. William lost his father in 1903. His mother passed away about 1908.
William and Georgia continued to live in the Ridgegrove area of Lee County. His wife died in 1927 and was buried at Farmville Baptist Church cemetery. William died in 1936. He was buried next to his wife.
