When Jeremiah 'Jerry' Garrett was born in 1774 in Tyrrell, North Carolina, his father, Daniel, was 16 and his mother, Susanna, was 11. He married Ann (Annie) Miller and they had ten children together. He then married Mary King and they had three children together. He died in 1838 in Pike, Alabama, at the age of 64.
