GARRETT—BATTERBURY.— On the 7th July, at Brisbane, by the Rev. Powell, Methodist minister, Francis John, A.I.F., youngest son of Mrs. Garrett and the late H. He died of broncho pneumonia in the Australian Military Hospital in Sutton Veny.
The information was yesterday conveyed from the headquarters of the Commonwealth Bank to Mr. Fitzgerald manager of the local branch, that Private Frank Garrett had died in London of influenza. Previous to the outbreak of the war, Mr. Garrett was a popular member of the staff of the Union Bank in Bundaberg and was a popular young citizen. He entered the Commonwealth Bank being attached to the Brisbane office, and .early in the war joined the A.I.F; After leaving Bundaberg and not long before enlisting, he was married to a Brisbane lady. He was always regarded as a particularly fine young fellow, and was held in high esteem alike by his comrades on the bank staff and ail who knew him well. PERSONAL. (1919, April 9).
