Hazel N. Crouse, age 71, a resident of Portland, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center in Bluffton, IN.

Hazel was born on July 22, 1940 in Jay County, IN, the daughter of Everett and Lelia (Tucker) Garringer. She attended Bryant High School. Hazel married Melvin Crouse on June 24, 1960.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Melvin Crouse, Portland, IN; three daughters, Benita Collins, Portland, IN, Denise Culy (husband-Kevin), Portland, IN, and Melissa Ames, Portland, IN; one sister, Alice Bollinger, Berne, IN; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two children, Melvin Christopher Crouse and Rebekah Lee Crouse.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday. Her son-in-law, Pastor Kevin Culy, will officiate the service. Burial will follow in New Pittsburgh Cemetery, southeast of Portland.
