Notes

Note NI58George Albert Garrison.

Birth: Mar. 15, 1908.

Death: Apr. 5, 1974.

George Albert Garrison was the son of Thomas Wesley Garrison and Mary Savannah Cobb Garrison. His father was a farmer by trade but became a dealer of coal during the depression before he died.

His grandfather, Rev. Thomas Wesley Garrison, is buried in the cemetery of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church that he founded as pastor in 1879 when he deed 4.5 acres of land in northeast Cobb County for a church and school. They were from deep Methodist stock, from the Garrison family of circuit riders and local pastors. His grandmother's family was buried in the Holbrook Camp Meeting cemetery, evidence of their involvement in early Methodism as well.

He married Jessie E. Scott who was born in Tennessee, and her father William D. Scott lived with them in their young marriage. He was a salesman with the St. Clair Refinery in 1930 but is simply listed as "helper" at a manufacturing company on a later census. His wife Jessie was listed as a beautician.

They had one daughter named Emily L. Garrison. 1
