I have been a co-administrator of the Garrison DNA Project at FTDNA since October of 2007 which I took over from my father.
I am a Professional Land Surveyor in Illinois and Missouri and I have been active in genealogy since 1987 when I traveled with my father to Cape May, New Jersey to research my Garrison line.
My paternal line traces back to Gerrit Jansen van Oldenburg who came to New Netherlands in early 1630's as killian van rensselaer's foreman. Through Genealogy and YDNA their is a group of us Garrison's that are descendants of this man. Visit the Garrison YDNA Project Chart to see the different groups of Garrisons. My group is the "C-Gerrit Jansen VO." group and my kit # is 213278 and my father's is 31200.

Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing. Tracy Garrison and Garrison-3879|John Wesley Garrison]] match on 67 out of 67 markers (see YSearch IDs 6YRTM and 3EGET) thereby confirming Tracy's direct paternal line to his father John Wesley Garrison Jr.

This week we have your last stop on the guided tour. Hopefully, you're feeling like a WikiTree pro! If not, you can always revisit the tour stops via the comment boxes on the right side of your profile.
You've covered a lot of ground the past few weeks. Today, we want to give you just a few more tools that can take you even deeper into the WikiTree forest without getting lost: How to Dig a Little Deeper.
As always, your questions are welcome!

You may have been hard at work getting connected to family members who are already here and adding those who were missing. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now.
There's a fast and easy way to access those profiles using the Watchlist. So, this week we're going to look at How to Manage Your Watchlist.
Questions?? Click my name above the comment, then ask in the comment section of my page. We want to help!
Thanks, ~Mary- Wiki Messenger
PS Thanks for adding sources to the profiles. It helps others. Collaboration is our goal.
You're probably getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now. We know that collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.
Dont hesitate to ask questions as that is the only way we gain knowledge!
Thanks, WikiMessenger Cindy
It's time for your next stop on your guided tour. This week, we'd like to introduce you to our community and show you some ways to get more involved and stay up to date on everything that's going on: How to Join in the Community.
As always, your questions are welcome!
Thanks, WikiMessenger Cindy
PS Good work so far! Have you noticed on your ancestor profiles on the bottom right is "Research" where you can get sources and more information? Give it a try sometime!
You've been here a week now, and we hope you enjoyed your first stop on your guided tour of WikiTree and were able to make good use of the things you learned.

Welcome to the New Netherland Settlers Project. Please visit our FAQ and feel free to ask any questions you may have. If you're looking for your ancestors that might already be on Wikitree, check out our Immigrants and Progenitors page, though it is not quite complete and does not reflect all of the profiles that already exist. Lastly, here's a quick guide to sources that might help you in your search.
Cheers! Carrie
I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Also noticed you made 185 contributions to Wikitree, thank you! Here at WikiTree we like to have our members involved with others; collaboration is key!
I see by your profile you are interested in the New Netherland project. Would you consider joining?? More info here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:New_Netherland_Settlers Also this is a list of our WikiTree projects you might like to check out: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Projects
Why don't you also stop by the One Name Studies project, to see if there's already a name study for (surname) going on? The current leaders for that are Doug Lockwood and Alison Andrus.

Welcome to WikiTree! Hopefully we can work to straighten out some of the crossed Garrison lines people have posted in the past.
Thanks for completing the tags indicating you wish to research/document your family history. You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members.
As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.
Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.
Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.
You can also meet some of our members by joining in the fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum: What do you do to honor the veterans in your family tree?
Great to have you on board and good luck growing your branches.
Ludwig :)
