Biography

Gladys was born in 1914. She was the daughter of Mark Garrison and Arzelia Gatton. She passed away in 2005.

Posted on Findagrave.com: Gladys Slinkard, a native of Chouteau who taught school for31 years -- including 20 years in Pryor -- died May 18 in Pryor.She was 90. Gladys grew up in Chouteau and graduated from ChouteauHigh School in 1932. She attended Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1937 with a Bachelors degree in education. She earned her Masters degree from Northeastern StateUniversity in 1966. She married Ray O. Slinkard on Dec. 21, 1941 in Pineville, Missouri and moved to Pryor the following year. She was a member of Pryor's First Baptist Church, Keentone Choir and the Keenagers. She was also a member of Oklahoma Education Association, Oklahoma Retired Educators Association, National Education Association, Kappa Kappa Iota and the Ladies Golf Association. She served on the Mayes County Election Board as a precinct official for 20 years. SERVICES: Held May 20 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Derrick Lynch and Travis Boyd officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery in Pryor. Services were entrusted to Stephens Memorial Chapel. BORN: Aug. 31, 1914 in Chouteau to Mark A. and Arzelia (Gatton) Garrison. DIED: May 18, 2005 in Pryor. SURVIVORS: Her daughter, Patsy Prather and husband, Ken, of Pryor; grandchildren Mike Stevens of Los Angeles, Kendal and Bob Rhoads of Pryor, Meredith and Chris Fleming of Owasso; great grandchildren Taylor and Caleb Rhoads, and Brayden Fleming; sister Anna Woodall of Durham, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray, in 1968; daughter Helen Stevens in 1994; three brothers and a sister.

Burial - Fairview Cemetery, Pryor, Mayes County, Oklahoma.
