Born and raised in Wisconsin. I used to work as a cashier at a grocery store. I got the interest in genealogy from my Mom, Sue Dodge. I wouldn't have gotten as far as I did without all the work she and others in my family did before me.
I found Wikitree back in January of 2019. I've learned a lot from the members here, and still learn something new everyday.
I am currently a Greeter. I'm also an Ambassador with the Social Media Team and a member of the Wisconsin Project. As well, I am the Coordinator for the Steies Name Study and the Fregin Name Study.
Here are some of my research goals:
Oldest Ancestor: Joseph Marie Chenard (bef.1791-abt.1891)

My interests outside of genealogy are reading (a lot of fantasy and historical fiction), playing Nancy Drew Mystery PC games and anything Doctor Who. I'm also a bit of an artist, although I don't work on my art as much as I used to.
In the event of my death (preferably in 90 years or so.......), in order to ensure that my work is not lost I would like:
Note: If my Mom, Sue Dodge, is still living, I would like all of the profiles I manage (including my personal profile) to be transfered to her.

Since the woman came over with her two sisters and was counted in the household of each in the same census, it indicates she lived with each one of her sisters during that 12 months the census was counting
Q: who was living in this domicile in the past 12 months
Not everyone listed was actually living there during those 12 months in every household listed, but they had lived there during those 12 months prior to the official date of the census

Sarah Cole (nee Aslett) was one of the Salem witches. You are 11 degrees from her. You are actually the 8th great grandniece of Sarah Cole - which means you are a direct descendent of Sarah's sister Mary Aslett. And as always I found this when checking out the EPOW, discovering my own connection (17 degrees) which happens to go through the Dodge and Stephens family, I always think of you when it comes to the Dodge Family. LOL

Your Kiwi 6th Cousin in Canada!!
As always I check the connections with the EPOW (example person of the week) and imagine my shock to find that you are related to the chef Julia Childs!! (McWilliams-675) She is your 7th cousin 3 times moved - or 7C3R for short. And I discovered this because Julia's connection to me (18 degrees) came via the Beeman family and of course we both know that you are descended from the Beeman Family.
Ciao
Your 6th cousin

We are 8th cousins once removed through John Kingsley (Kingsley-131). First relation i've found on Wikitree. I'm a!so from Wisconsin but have been in Illinois for 40 plus years. Still working on getting my tree completely connected here. Like you I'm obsessed with genealogy. The search of 30 generations said we have 439 common ancestors! I guess what surprised me .org is now far back we can get. View also been having fun using the relationship quick links...I guess you were surprised to find how many of them we're related to because our ancestry leads back to the early New England settlers.

Good Morning Chandra, It appears through Relationship Finder that you and I are 10th cousins once removed through my Ruggles/Smith line. The connecting link is Christina (Penn) Billington, my 9th great grandmother and you 10th. This is a line that I had not previously heard of so am grateful for that information. Please feel free to look over all branches of my family line which might give you some leads to other parts of yours.
Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!
Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

I wonder if I mentioned it when we were chatting about the Stephens last year?
You've been a member for a few weeks so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!

Hope you enjoy WikiTree as much as I have. You never know when you will find a lost family member or ancestor. Or maybe find a hidden family secret about an ancestor. Genealogy to me is like being a detective looking for clues into the past.
