OBITUARY
MR JOHN GARTNER
The death occurred recently in the Horwitz Ward of the Warwick Hospital of Mr John Gartner, who for many years was a well known and respected resident of the Berat and Allora districts.
The late Mr Gartner was born in Allora in 1868 and resided there until he. was sixteen. As this time he commenced farming operations in the district now known as Berat, but which in those days was, called Forest Plains. Here he became one of the, best known farmers of the district. He and his wife reared a large family, many of whom still reside in the district, one son still working the old home farm.
About 21 years ago Mr Gartner gave up active farming life and with his wife made his home in Allora until a few years ago when they moved to Toowoomba and where they were living at the time of his death. He still maintained his keen interest in all matters pertaining to farming life and at busy times often visited his sons to help with the work of their farms. He always took a, keen interest in the welfare of the district and at all times was ready to assist his neighbours in any way possible. He leaves a widow, who was formerly Miss Esther Blades, of Warwick; one daughter, Mrs J. S. MacNaughton, of South Africa, and six sons, Percy (Berat), John (Berat), William (Brisbane), Ernest (Berat), Edwin (Berat) and Alfred (Caboolture). The funeral moved from St. David's Church of England to the Allora cemetery, with Rev A. E. Loxton officiating.^[4]

🌟 John was buried in the Allora Cemetery, Allora, in the midst of the area where he had spent so much of his life. Several family members lie nearby, including his wife and parents.^[5]
