Michael Gartner, Jr., and Miss Bertha M. Melvin, both of this city, were quietly married at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, and, before any but their most intimate friends were aware of it, were off on their wedding tour.

The ceremony was performed at the residence of the officiating clergyman, Rev. A. M. Schaffner, pastor of St. Paul's Reformed church, immediately following which the new-made bride and groom were driven to Saegertown, where they took train 10 for a short trip east.

The bride is a daughter of A. Melvin, and has been for a number of years employed in The Tribune - Republican counting room, where by her uniform courtesy, general ability and personal worth, she has won the highest esteem of all connected with this office in addition to her otherwise large circle of friends.

Mr. Gartner is engaged in the furniture business with his father, on Water street, and is well and favorably known. He has a comfortable home prettily furnished on Arch street, near the store, in which he and his wife will embark in the responsibilities of housekeeping on their return from their wedding jaunt, some time this week.
