George Scott Garton wasn't a good farmer and didn't see out the depression. They moved off the farm and lived with their son Harry after Harry's first wife died. After George Scott died in August 1931, Sophia lived with first her daughter Louisa, then with Violet. Barry [Marjories husband] remembers his grandmother as determined and forthright.

George died in 1931 in Merino, Victoria, Australia aged 75.[2]

  • Wickliffe is about half way between Skipton and Hamilton in the Western District of Victoria.
  • Beear appears to be just south of the Rocklands reservoir, west of the Grampian mountains.
  • Woohlpooer is west of the Grampian mountains
