Biography
"Pearl was born to Joseph Garwood and Angeline Colver. He joined Company C of the 17th Ohio as a private on September 2, 1861 to fight in the Civil War. He was later promoted to corporal and then full sergeant on May 1, 1865. He was mustered out on July 3, 1865. He wed Elizabeth Arabelle Marquis in Logan County, Ohio on November 3, 1869 and they had no children. After Pearl died, Elizabeth wed Charles Chapman in Franklin County, Ohio on June 4, 1889. The name Perl on the gravestone is misspelled."
