Biography

Daisy Florence Gary was born at Romford, Essex, in the third quarter of 1914, a daughter of William James Gary and Rose (Stringer) Gary;^[1] she married Ernest John Pavitt at Romford in the summer of 1934. Widowed in 1966, she was remarried the following year to James Illidge at Barking, Essex; she died at Brentwood in the spring of 1998.

Research Notes

There are multiple candidates for Daisy's second husband, James Illidge. Geographically, the most attractive is the James born at Lambeth, in London, in 1921 (mother's maiden surname: Vaughan); he is seven years younger, but the marriage was late enough that this age difference would likely not be a factor.^[2] Note that this James evidently had a sibling born early in the year previous, named William James Illidge (mother's maiden surname: again, Vaughan)^[3] who is also a candidate; he died in London in August of 1987.^[4]
