1900 Samuel and Lula Mae are living in Grass Township, Spencer County, Indiana. This census listing gives his birth date as Mar 1871, which is different than the date given on his Find-a-Grave memorial.
1910 Samuel and Lula continue to live in Grass Township, Spencer County, Indiana. Samuel gives his occupation as "laborer" and states that he can neither read nor write, and they are renting the house they are living in. This census asks if the individual is a survivor of the Confederate or Union Army, and there is a "1" in this column for Samuel. It's not clear what this means. The couple has eight children.
1920 Samuel and Lula are living in Paducah, Kentucky with their seven children. This census listing gives Samuel's birthplace as Kentucky rather than Indiana which was what I had originally. This will need to be verified.
6 Apr 1940 Samuel passes away. He was living in Vanderburgh County, Indiana and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana.
