Florence was born in 1877 and died in 1895 at age 18. Another name for Florence was McKINZIE. The child from this marriage was: Joseph Clyde GASAWAY [2016] was born on 26 Nov 1893 in Indiana, died on 10 Dec 1921 in Dalna, Letcher County, KY at age 28, and was buried in Stark Cemetery, Letcher County, KY. The marriage ended in divorce 1933. • Samuel and Lula obtained a marriage license Remarried on 16 May 1936 in Muscatine, Muscatine, Iowa, United States.

26 Feb 1896 According to their daughter Myrtle's marriage record, she was born on 26 Feb in Spencer County, Indiana. This could mean one of two things: 1) She was born before they were married; 2) She lied about her age so that she could get married without her parents' consent.[1]

31 Dec 1896 Samuel marries Lula Mae Kirkpatrick in Spencer County, Kentucky[2]

1900 Samuel and Lula Mae are living in Grass Township, Spencer County, Indiana. This census listing gives his birth date as Mar 1871, which is different than the date given on his Find-a-Grave memorial.[3]

1910 Samuel and Lula continue to live in Grass Township, Spencer County, Indiana. Samuel gives his occupation as "laborer" and states that he can neither read nor write, and they are renting the house they are living in. This census asks if the individual is a survivor of the Confederate or Union Army, and there is a "1" in this column for Samuel. It's not clear what this means. The couple has eight children.[4]

1920 Samuel and Lula are living in Paducah, Kentucky with their seven children. This census listing gives Samuel's birthplace as Kentucky rather than Indiana which was what I had originally. This will need to be verified.[5]

6 Apr 1940 Samuel passes away. He was living in Vanderburgh County, Indiana and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana.[6]
