Biography

Bartlett Gaskins was born about 1804 in Westmoreland, Virginia to Thomas and Sallie Gaskins. Records have a variation of 1800-1807 for birth year.

Bartlett married Mary Ann Peck on October 21, 1829 in Westmoreland, Virginia. The couple had at least the following children(est. birth by census):

5. Mary Elizabeth 1843
6. Sarah Rebecca 1844
7. Ann 1845

Barlett had two additional sons, Sam and John, but probably not Mary's, as they were born in 1860, beyond expected child bearing years.

The 1850 census (Gaskins misspelled Gaskim) shows the eight children certain to be Mary's. In the 1860 census of Cople, the census taker only used first initials of the Gaskins. The initials match with the names above, though.

Wife Mary Ann Peck Gaskins passed away prior to 1867, as Bartlett has a marriage record for April 25, 1867 to Annie Thompson, in Westmoreland, Virginia.
