Ada was at home for the 1891 and the 1901 census, but not for the 1911, which fits with her stated year of emigration, 1908. Ada Mae Gass, daughter of Mary Jane and James Gass, married Charles de Rochemont Avery in 1911 in Massachusetts. Charles claimed it was his first marriage on the form, but there was a Charles de Rochemond Avery who had three children before this marriage, who were living with his parents in the 1910, 1920 and 1930 census. His third child was born in 1910, and his first wife remarried in 1912.
Charles gave Ada Mae Avery as his contact when he filled out forms for WW1 (1917-1918), and in 1920 they were living together, in lodgings. But by 1930, Charles was back living with his parents and three sons, giving his marital status as divorced.
Ada married again in 1923, to Francis Lester Gass, who might have been a cousin. After her marriage she used the name Ada Mary. They had no children in the 1930 US census, or in 1940. In the 1940 US census, Francis was an engineer, and they were living in Boston.
Died SSDI for Mary Gass had this date of birth. MAY 1966. Massachusetts, United States.
