Rebecca Cassaway was born on June 20, 1813 in Kentucky to John and Catherine (Greenwood) Gassaway. She married Newton McMannis on June 26, 1838, in Shelby, Kentucky. They were the parents of Andrew Jackson (1840-1933), Juliet (1841-1908), John Charles (1844-1905), and Taylor (1847-1897). She died on December 27, 1883, in Sumner, Kansas, at the age of 70, and is buried in Jordan Cemetery, in Sumner, Kansas.
