Biography

Isaac Gastineau was born May 6, 1818, in Pulaski county, Kentucky, a son of Job Gastineau, Jr. and Sarah Ann Hays. On January 28, 1838, at the age of 19, Isaac married 17 years old Mary "Polly" Todd. [1]

"Isaak Gastinen" and his wife Mary, are found on the United States Census of 1850, living in Pulaski county, Kentucky with children, Marion, age 12, Christy, age 11, William, age 8, Sarah, age 6 and Elizabeth, age 4, all born in Kentucky. [2] On the 1860 census, additional children are Nancy, Job, James T. and Matilda [3]

Isaac Gastineau died February 12, 1880, in Montgomery County, Kansas and is buried in the Quaker Cemetery in Elk City. There is a photograph of his headstone on his Find A Grave memorial. [4]

From Biography Frankfort KY Historical Library vertical file of Gastineau and allied families of Isaac Gastineau: Isaac Gastineau (son/o Job Jr) b May 6 818 d Feb 20 1880; marr Polly Todd Jan 20 1834 in Pulaski Co KY, consent of fathers Anderson Todd and Job Gastineau (Polly was 14 yo and Isaac 16). Polly was b Mar 10 1820 and d Nov 27 1904. Both Polly and Isaac are bur in Quaker Cem abt 50 mi from Peru KS.

They went from KY to CO then to KS. Children: (a) Marion (b) William (Anderson?) b 1842 marr (1) Mary Ann Garner (1846-1881) in 1862 as found in Pulaski Co KY marr and (2) __. William's ch: William; Jane; Isaac marr Charlene __ b 1868, d 1962 Sedan KS (c) Sarah b 1844 marr Joseph Lane Mar 9 1861 listed in Pulaski Co KY marr (d) Chrisley Gastineau b abt 1846-49 may have been the Chrisley who marr Sarah ("Susan") Weler in 1870 according to Pulaski Co marr. (e) Ella (f) Elizabeth Janet marr George Burns ? has dau Clay (near Peru KS).
