Biography
Daughter of Marvin Gaston (1820-1900), an inn keeper in Howell, and his wife, Phylinda W. Parsons (1826-1888), Vinnie was born in Cohocta, Michigan around 1846.[1][2] Her siblings included:
Elijah F. Gaston (d. 1843)
Ellen M. Gaston (d. 1845)
Mary E. Gaston (d. 1848)
Henry L. Gaston (d. 1851)
Willie Gaston (1851-1851)
George Howard Gaston (1857-1897)
Charles O. Gaston (1860-1874)
Ernest G. Gaston (1861-1862)
She married Luther Calvin Kanouse in Livingston County, Michigan around 1864, and their children included:
an infant son who died at two weeks of age (13 May-24 May 1867)[3][4]
a second infant son who died at two weeks of age (6 Sep-21 Sep 1868)[5][6]
Nellie May Kanouse (1870-1949)
an infant daughter who died at less than two weeks of age (2 Jun-11 Jun 1872)[7][8]
Luther and Vinnie raised their family in Cohocta, Michigan.[10][11][12] Vinnie passed away in March of 1912, and Luther remarried immediately, marrying F. Emma Sherman on September 19th of that year. He was 70 and his bride was 66.
