Gaston-291 and Allen-45232 appear to represent the same person because: Little was known about Sarah's origins during her lifespan, but modern DNA science allows us to now see many DNA matches which can only be explained by having Calvin Webster Allen as her father. It appears Clarissa moved in with her mother and brother Elbridge for the 1860 census with Eliza, while Sarah went to her Aunt Eliza, who in her 8 years with Benjamin Gaston did not yet have her own child. Clarissa and Eliza were close in age, along with Elbridge. The rest of their siblings were born prior to their arrival to Lincoln, then Lowell by Cold Stream Pond between Hiram Allen and the subsequent plots taken later by the Miles brothers as they grew up (see 1859 map at the north east corner of Cold Stream). Elbridge had his own family in 1860, not listed on the census at the farm in Lowell, and left for war in the summer of 1863. Elbridge found himself in California running a hotel at the end of the war, and sent for his family. His young wife and wee children traveled by foot over Panama to make the journey to what became Miles Station out there in San Luis Obispo (sons William and Homer soon followed; lots of pictures and stories from his descendants).

I managed to get a DNA tester for one of Sarah's granddaughters, Crystle Valentyne Bowers (aunt Crystle herself insists on this spelling). Crystle is still alive, and her daughter Cheryl was able to help send in her kit. I am the manager of that kit on Ancestry. It's a bit of a story with Cheryl and Crystle having her as a daughter at all, so her highest cM matches are all nieces and nephews, followed by her Bowers, Sibley, Moore, and Allen grandparents. Her Allen exclusive DNA matches are clear as to the Gaston/Allen parentage of Sarah Allen. Sarah was adopted by her aunt and uncle after her father, Calvin, died when she was a newborn. Her sister remained with her mother, Clarissa Miles. The Allen family is further confusion, as census records say Hiram is from Maine, but Thrulines makes it clear his roots are Cornish & Croydon NH, particularly the Swinerton/Hall family, but that leaves two Hiram Allen families, or more likely Betsey Swinnerton had a prior relationship to William Allen in Massachusetts.

I'll be moving along adding to my tree here as I get acclimated to this site. Let me know if anyone wants to see Crystle's DNA matches on Ancestry to see what I'm seeing. Thrulines will likely be inaccurate until we can figure out the real father of elder Hiram. (just guessing given the lack of Allen cousins from here and relative abundance of Swinerton/Hall).
