Untriangulated DNA Match

Researcher Randolph-1145 has identified up to four autosomal DNA segments which which may have passed from John Gaston or Anna Davisson to their son James Gaston, and from him to his daughter Elizabeth Ann (Gaston) Hoff: Thomas Fitz Randolph (GEDmatch kit M011134) and Winnetta Bowman (23andme) share four segments (23andme A:FI analysis):

  1. 21.2 cM segment on Chromosome 1 from 109,000,000 to 147,000,000 for 2630 SNPs
  2. 10.1 cM segment on Chromosome 1 from 164,000,000 to 172,000,000 for 2047 SNPs
  3. 13.5 cM segment on Chromosome 4 from 96,000,000 to 113,000,000 for 2917 SNPs
  4. 6.6 cM segment on Chromosome 12 from 1,000,000 to 3,000,000 for 747 SNPs.

Common ancestors for the match have been tentatively identified as:

  1. John Gaston (1752-1829) and Ann Davisson (1765-1864)
  2. Peter Swisher III (1779-1830) and Susanah Rinehart (1779-1856).

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
