When David Gates was born on April 6, 1761, in East Haddam, Connecticut, his father, Levi, was 25 and his mother, Lydia, was 25. He had three sons and three daughters with Anna L. N. U. between 1785 and 1795. He died in December 1831 in Hartford, New York, at the age of 70.
