The 1880 US Census of Worcester, Worcester, Massachusetts finds this person given only as Chas H. (Gates) at the age of 29yrs old and given as a clerk in a grocery store and born in Massachusetts. He is living there in Worcester on Millbury St. with his 25yr old wife, Wilhelmina and three children; a 6yr old son, given only as Wm A., 3yr old Eveline G. and 1yr old Royden K.^[3]

The 1900 US census of Worcester, Worcester, Massachusetts finds this Charles H. Gates at the age of 49 and given as born in Massachusetts in June of 1850, (see his actual birth record that contradicts that report). Here he is given as a "cournsser (sic) of tea and coffee." He is living there in Worcester with his wife Wilhelmina C and four children; 27yr old William A., 23yr old Evelyn G., 21yr old Royden K. and 18yr old Charles (F. or T.).^[4]

The 1910 US Census of Worcester, Worcester, Massachusetts finds this Charles H. Gates at the age of 59yrs old and given as a "store clerk" born in Massachusetts and married for 38yrs, living there with his wife Wilhelmina C. and two children; 33yr old Evelyn G. and 28yr old Charles F.^[5]

DEATH:

A record of the death of this Charles H. Gates who died in Worcester, Worcester, Massachusetts on October 23, 1914. The record indicates that he was a married "grocery clerk" at the time of his death. IT also gives his parents as Charles A. Stone and Fanny B. Pierce, (born in Millbury, (MA).^[6]
