Per deeds: Wife was named Elizabeth. Occupation was that of carpenter and planter.

Sons were Thomas, Joseph and Richard. Richard was born after 3 September 1713, as he is not listed in a deed of lifetime lease made on that date.

1695 - Patent for 300 acres "The Hiccory Plaines", Prince George's County (Liber B.B. 3, Folio 197-198)

3 September 1713 - Lifetime lease between Notley Rozer of Prince George's County and Thomas Gatton, planter of same county 600 acres of land called St. Elisabeth's on east side of Piscattaway River on a bay of said river called St. Thomas' Bay... for "the natural lives of Elizabeth Gatton his wife, Thomas Gatton and Joseph Gatton his sons".

March 27 1721/2 at Marlboro Town p.491 March Court L.P. vs Elizabeth Servt to Thos Gatten ... confesses ... fifteen lashes and serve two years in satisfaction of his keeping ye bastard child afsd ye damage

28 Jan 1726 - Thomas Gatton, Senr., planter, to his three sons, Thomas, Joseph and Richard, for love and affection and 1 shilling, the tract of land where he resides and has upon lease with all the movables - livestock and household goods - divided into three equal shares. Thomas to have first choice, Joseph second choice and Richard the remaining. No son shall sell, make over or let their share without consent of the other two. If either die unmarried the survivor(s) inherit his share.

August 28 1733 pp.407,8 Lord Proprietary vs. Elizabeth Welch } Bastardy convict per confession ... pay fine or suffer corporal punishment ... ten lashes ... Thomas Gatton has service adjudged him from Elizabeth Welch six months exclusive of her present time

March 25 1735 p.299 Graham, Elizabeth her petition formerly served Thos. Gatton Senr. Deceased & has been resident in the sd County Since in which time Petr. hath endeavd. to Maintain herself ... Distemper and not having wherewithal
