Biography

Hippolyte was born in Memramcook on 20 Apr 1839. (As shown in death certificate) He is the son of David Gaudet and Marguerite (Babineau) Gaudet.

He married Nathalie LeBlanc in Memramcook on 26 Jan 1858. The witnesses were Sylvain LeBlanc and Luce Cormier.[1]

He passed away at age 87 in Légerville on 5 May 1926.[2]

Research notes

Although the parents of the newlyweds are not identified, the marriage record shows that a dispensation to authorise the marriage of relatives having close consanguinity was granted by church officials to Hippolyte and Nathalie who were second cousins. *In the 1871 census Hyppolitte (age 33), Cultivateur, was recorded as married in Dorchester, Westmorland, New Brunswick.[3]

I do have additional info on this Hippolyte Gaudet who I believe is my great great grandfather. From 1871 Census (page 44 row 4-12 & 1881 Census page 37 row 7-18) and other bits of info from family, I have these as Hippolyte's children (Anselme is my great grandfather):
