Around 1633, Marie Gaudet was born to parents Jean Gaudet and an unknown mother. [1]. Shortly after Marie married Étienne Hébert, her father remarried (to Nicole Colleson) and her youngest sibling was born about the time of her third child.
Around 1650, Marie married Etienne Hébert, brother of Antoine.[1] Between 1651 and 1670 Marie gave birth to 10 children: Marie, Maguerite, Emmanuel, Etienne, Jean, Françoise, Catherine, Martine, Michel, and Antoine.[1] According to depositions from their descendants, Marie came from France with her husband.[2]
Children of Marie Gaudet and Étienne Hebert are as follows[1]:
Marie Hebert, bn. Abt. 1651, Port Royal, Acadia, d. Bet. 1677 - 1678, Port-Royal, Acadie
When Etienne died between 1669 and 1671,[1][3] Marie married Dominique Gareau, Royal Sargeant, around 1676.[4] They had one child Marie around 1677.[4][5]
Children of Marie Gaudet and Dominique Gareau are:
Marie Garaut, bn. Abt. 1677, Port Royal, Acadia, d. Aft. 1755, Virginia. [4]
Marie Godet, wife of Hebert was buried at Port Royal on July 30 1710 aged about 80 years. [8][9]
DNA. The Mothers of Acadia Maternal DNA project is conducting ongoing research to verify their origins. As of 2015, Stephen White reported Marie Gaudet had a J1b2 haplogroup. Ongoing test results are also reported here. As of 14 Sep 2019, 16 descendants have consistently reported a J haplogroup with 6 of those doing full testing to J1b2 , while 15 descendants of her sister Francoise Gaudet have reported a J haplogroup with 7 of those doing full testing to J1b2. J haplogroups indicate European origins.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Marie by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.

Gaudet-751 and Gaudet-7 are not ready to be merged because: I am not certain these two women are the same person. Although both have marriage to Etienne Hebert in common, and both were born in or near Martaize, France, Gaudet-751 is relying on Ancestry.com trees. Also the birth and death years for each vary considerably. I would prefer that someone with expertise in Gaudet genealogical research look into this proposal for merging.
