Biography
Laurent Justinien, son of Louis Gaumond and Elisabeth Côté, was born on 4 Sep and baptized on 5 Sep 1826 at Montmagny (St-Thomas), Quebec.[1]
He married Soulange Carrier, daughter of Laurent Carrier and Soulange Bélanger, on 10 Aug 1852 at Saint-Charles-de-Bellechasse, Quebec.[2]
1871 census in Somerset North, Mégantic, Quebec: GAUMOND Justinien (age 46, baker/boulanger, cannot write), Soulange (age 45, wife), Alphonsine (age 18), Alvine (age 17), Eugénie (age 14), Lumina (age 8, at school), Joseph (age 6, at school); all Catholic, French, born in Quebec.[3]
The family immigrated to Salem, Massachusetts in 1873.[4] [5] In 1900, Justinien, aged 74, widower, was living with his daughter Lumina and her family.[4]
Justinien Gaumond, age 74y 4m, died on 28 Dec 1900 and was buried in Salem, Massachusetts.[6]
