Gerald Joseph Gauthier was born on March 28, 1918 in Saint Albans, Vermont, the son of Leo Paul and Eugenie St. Denis Gauthier. He was raised on their dairy farm.
On November 17, 1943, he married Frances Esther Cameron and they had two children: Sylvia and Geraldine.
In 1950 he bought his own farm which he operated until 1972 when he retired from farming and spent winters in Florida.
His wife died in 1974.
He moved back to Vermont where he resided until his death on September 15, 2003.
He was buried in the New Saint John The Baptist Cemetery in Enosburg Falls, Vermont. His two daughters survive him.
